Hold On is the mesmerizing new single from Manchester DJ and producer TURNA, collaborating with Toronto-based singer Gillian Mapp for a broken-beat trip.

Following a string of independent releases and the bumping on many a speaker of recent single Oneiro/Tilia, TURNA’s warm, forward-thinking production pairs with the mellifluous voice of Gillian Mapp for a richly floating, enticing track entitled Hold On. TURNA’s trademark bounce and carefully-constructed sonic layers balance perfectly with Gillian’s restrainedly beautiful vocals to produce a subtly powerful slice of future soul.

“Hold On is about an internal state of being stuck on someone,” explains Gillian. “Soothing vocals accompanied by the instrumental’s melodic rhythm lull listeners into a lovestruck spell.”

Reflecting on the genesis of the collaboration, TURNA says: “I’d been looking for a vocalist for this track for a while and once I heard Gillian on (her debut single) Orange Bitters I knew we had to work together. We went back and forth with ideas and changes to the arrangement until we
got to where it is now, but Gillian really understood the vibe of the track immediately - she really brought it to life.”
